Too sweet – that’s the nutritionist’s verdict. It is better to avoid it altogether, or use it only following consultation with your doctor.

Celebrity nutritionist Mariyat Mukhina told which berry is best for people aged 60+ to avoid – grapes are on the blacklist of doctors of medical sciences.

As the doctor explains, grapes contain a lot of sugar, which makes them not the healthiest product. Considering that type II diabetes mellitus or pre-diabetic conditions become more common with age, the ban seems quite logical and justified.

“Grapes have a high glycemic index, so they can greatly increase blood glucose levels,” Mukhina explained to Moskva 24.

And this is not the only contraindication for grapes. There are several other reasons to eat less of it – or not at all.

Increases the production of gastric juice – can cause exacerbation of gastritis and ulcers; It can cause a laxative effect, so if you have diarrhea, don’t even look in the direction of the grapes; Dangerous in case of kidney failure – the berries contain a lot of potassium, which can be harmful in this pathology.

Top 5 fruits with the most sugar

Nutritionists are cautious regarding fruits precisely because of the high fructose content in many of them. They can have a rather unpleasant effect on the level of glucose in the blood: it rises sharply, then drops just as sharply, causing a loss of energy and a feeling of hunger.

Among the fruits, the sweetest are:

Mango Melon Bananas Grapes and raisins Cherries

There is a lot of sugar in dried fruits, berries, especially candied fruits. Therefore, it is not recommended to eat more than two or three dates per day.

But the least sugar is in avocados (this fruit has much more fat), cranberries, raspberries, strawberries and lemon.
