A rave party has been disrupting the village of Commanster, in the commune of Vielsalm, since early Saturday evening. A thousand revelers gathered at number 40 and in nearby fields. The volume of the sound system and the hundreds of vehicles parked along the roadside cause significant nuisance.
The police in the Famenne Ardenne area received several complaints from local residents and went to the scene but, given the number of revelers, the state of intoxication and the aggressiveness of some of them, they did not was able to put an end to the clandestine party. The federal police were called in for reinforcements.
This Sunday morning, around 9 a.m., the party was still going on and revelers continued to converge on the rave party location. Around thirty police officers went to the scene. Police roadblocks were set up to prevent access to the site. The participants are of Belgian, French and Dutch nationality.
The mayor of Vielsalm, Elie Deblire, was warned by the police and by disgruntled residents. “A rave party was already organized a few weeks ago near the Mauvaises Pierres farm in Poteau,” he remembers. The Saint-Vith police, at the request of the mayor, went to the site. To my knowledge, this is the first time that an underground party has disrupted the village of Commanster. The organizers did not receive any authorization. This party takes place illegally. A gathering of a thousand people must be supervised. ”
Véronique Léonard, mayor of Gouvy, also received a complaint from a local resident. “The rave party takes place near the town of Gouvy: the inhabitants of Beho, the village near Commanster, were also disturbed by the music. According to my information, the sound system was cut off, at request from the police, this Sunday around 10:30 a.m..”
