Festival of Hope had more visitors than there was space in the arena (PHOTO)
food (ots) – 6,900 people came to the Grugahalle in Essen this evening, where Franklin Graham proclaimed the biblical message of hope and God’s love.
Almost 260 churches from seven major denominations supported the Festival of Hope and congregations from Bremen and Hamburg even came to Essen on numerous buses. The rush was so great that many people had to be turned away at the door because there were no more seats.
“Your soul is worth more than the value of the entire earth. God loves you and created you. He gave you a soul and a spirit, and He created a vacuum that only He alone can fill,” Franklin said Graham, President and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, to the people in Essen. “There are not many ways to God, there is only one, and that is through his Son Jesus Christ. The Bible says that God so loved the world that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life has.”
With nearly 7,000 attendees, the Festival of Hope was the largest event of its kind in the region since Franklin Graham’s father preached at Grugahalle three decades ago. At that time, more than 8 million people in 59 countries had been reached with the message of Jesus Christ.
Franklin Graham was pleased to be able to welcome the many thousands of people on this historic return to the Grugahalle and invite them to a celebration of hope. Live music from the Grammy-nominated and platinum-selling Newsboys, who had 33 No. 1 radio hits, and the German Christian music group Veronika Lohmer & Band, also made the event a musical worship evening.
