It was Hezbollah which opened hostilities by attacking three Israeli fortified positions on Mount Hermon and in the farms of Chebaa, a border region occupied by Israel and claimed by Lebanon, at dawn on Sunday with rockets and mortar shells. , not far from the Golan, a Syrian plateau occupied in 1967 and annexed by the Israelis.

The Israeli army responded by firing dozens of large-caliber shells into the hills and valleys of the disputed region. Some projectiles fell on the Lebanese side of the demarcation line without causing any casualties.

In a statement released this morning, Hezbollah admits to having fired “ a large number of shells and guided rockets that directly hit their targets ».
