Understanding the Challenges of the Service Voucher Sector and the Proposed Solutions

2023-10-08 04:54:57

The service voucher sector is in difficulty. For several years now and mainly since Covid, these companies have had to face new expenses that they did not have before. The problem mainly comes from the fact that the value paid to these companies through service vouchers has not increased. Many companies are therefore in difficulty and in loss.

Today, the sector is trying to get back on track. For this, the Minister of Employment Christie Morreale proposed the cost of one euro service vouchers. Decision that Federgon, the Federation of Service Providers, does not understand, which wishes to increase this cost by 5 euros.

A necessary increase for Nathalie Garcia, manager at Home Clean Service: “The additional euro is a minimum value which will make it possible to patch the bleeding, but the five euros allows the company to increase and for the company to have two additional euros per service voucher received. In the remaining 3 euros, there are two euros that go to the worker, including 1 euro in her net pocket. “.

On the side of the CODEF (Multi-sectoral Federation of Employers in the Associative Sector) we support the minister’s idea by specifying that an increase of 5 euros would kill the sector, because it includes both domestic help at home, but also help for people who no longer know how to do things themselves.

The service voucher sector concerns more than 160,000 workers in Belgium. The service voucher will increase from 9 to 10 euros on January 1, 2024.
