Russians have recently begun to purchase folding smartphones more often. Over the year, sales of such gadgets have quadrupled. Electronics sellers spoke regarding this.
“In the third quarter of 2023, 21.4 thousand folding smartphones were sold on the Russian market for a total amount of 2.6 billion rubles. Compared to the same period last year, sales increased almost fourfold in units and in money,” reports “News» message from the MTS press service.
Representatives of mobile operators Megafon and Yota noted an increase in sales of folding gadgets. Experts believe that this is due to the expansion of the range of smartphones. It is noted that the devices are becoming more reliable. In addition, buyers are attracted by the unusual design of the devices.
Over the first nine months of this year, regarding 21.5 million smartphones were sold in Russia. This is 25% more than in 2022. At the same time, the cost of the devices fell by 10%, noted the M.Video-Eldorado chain of household appliances and electronics stores.
Peak demand was recorded in the third quarter of 2023. During this period, 8.5 million smartphones were sold. This is 30% more than in the first and second quarters. At that time, 6.5 million gadgets were sold.
