Footage appeared on the Internet depicting an almost medieval picture – the Palestinians were taking the Israeli civilian population captive. Women were taken away in cars and motorcycles, men were forced to walk. Children were also taken prisoner.

The representative of one of the Palestinian groups, Dawood Shihab, publicly called the main goal of the Hamas operation in Israel to take hostages. According to Shihab, the hostages are needed to be exchanged for Palestinians in Israeli prisons. And also as a human shield and a guarantee that the Israel Defense Forces will not launch a ground operation in Gaza.

After a new airstrike on Gaza neighborhoods, Hamas threatened to launch one and a half hundred rockets – and in the evening they flew to Tel Aviv and neighboring cities.

Hamas’s attack on Israel was approved by Syria, Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah movement. In Iran, the successful Palestinian attack was even celebrated with fireworks.

Western countries came out with support for Israel. In particular, the actions of Hamas were condemned by French President Emmanuel Macron, the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, British Foreign Minister James Calverley, German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock, her Italian counterpart Antonio Taini and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Moscow called on the Palestinian and Israeli sides for an immediate ceasefire, renunciation of violence, and the exercise of the necessary restraint.

On the evening of October 7, following the second rocket attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation on television. He statedthat the Israeli army will use all its might to destroy Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

“We will take revenge with great might for this dark day for Israel,” Netanyahu said. He called on Gaza civilians to “leave now.”

According to the latest data, 200 people have already died in Israel, over 1,400 injured, including 18 in critical condition, 267 in serious condition. In Palestine, 230 citizens were killed in a day, almost 1,700 were wounded.
