PrehistorySeeking an escape from the Eternal Conflict, Inarius and Lilith led a group of renegade Angels and Demons to form Sanctuary. The mix between Angels and Demons formed the Firstborn. Humanity descends from the Firstborn, hidden in Heaven and Hell on Sanctuary.– 1.992Mage Jere Harash summons a demon, revealing Sanctuary in the Underworld.– 1.880The Trinity Temple is established under the leadership of the Primordial Demons, working in secret to turn Humanity to the cause of the Underworld.– 1.820Inarius, under the pseudonym ‘The Prophet’, established the Cathedral of Light in order to counter the demonic influence of the Trinity.– 1.809Lilith awakens the ancestral power of Humanity through the farmer Uldyssian Ul-Diomed. Uldyssian awakens this power in others, creating Edyrem. The Cathedral of Light and the Trinity come into open conflict due to their opposing ideologies. Led by Uldyssian, the Edyrem enters into a revolution to overthrow the Trinity and the Cathedral of Light. These actions draw the attention of the Heavens to Sanctuary. Archangel Tyrael calls upon the celestial army to act once morest Inarius and his creations. The Underworld also enters the fray, and the ensuing battle threatens to consume Sanctuary. In an effort to end this brutal three-way conflict, Uldyssian sacrifices himself to rid the Edyrem of this newly acquired power. selfless act impresses Tyraël. He places the deciding vote among the rulers of the Heavens, the Angiris Council, to cease interfering in the affairs of Humanity. Inarius is handed over to the Primordial Demon Mephisto as a prisoner. Heaven and Hell agree to a truce regarding Sanctuary. Humanity decides its own allegiance. This is how the War of Sin ends. But the Eternal Conflict continues.
