The Microsoft Store has a new design in its web version. The news comes shortly following the app store update on Windows 11 in the Canary (Build 25967) and Dev (Build 23560) channels of the Windows Insider program. The look of the Microsoft Store website is now similar to that of the store app for Windows 11.

The Microsoft Store website now uses a “card” design to display apps, categories, special offers and more. When you click on the “Games” or “Movies and TV” tab at the top, the main titles, game selections with specific themes, Game Pass subscription offers and more will appear.

Microsoft engineer Judah Gabriel shared on “X” (formerly Twitter) an announcement regarding the launch of the new design for the Microsoft Store web platform. According to him, different web component tools were implemented, including Lit, Shoelace, Vite, PWABuilder, among others.

To clarify a question regarding the coexistence of the web application and the Microsoft Store desktop, Gabriel responded as follows:

Think of it as the web interface for the Windows app store. They work together. I work on the same team as the Store desktop apps team – they’re great people creating the best in-box app on Windows. I wish more in-box Windows apps were as well-crafted as the Store.

Recently the desktop version of the Microsoft Store received some improvementsincluding the Instant Games feature, where the user can play casual games within the store application, without the need to download.
