DES MOINES, Iowa, USA (AP) — The Poweball lottery will put into play on Saturday an estimated $1.4 billion jackpot accumulated since July.

This is the fifth highest lottery prize in the world following 33 consecutive draws without a winner. The last time someone matched the winning combination and claimed the top prize was on July 19.

The lack of winners reflects the slim odds of getting it right, one in 292.2 million.

The 1.4 billion prize would go to a single winner who chooses to collect it in annuities for more than 30 years. Most of the winners choose to receive the cash prize, which for Saturday is estimated at $614 million.

Powerball is played in 45 states as well as Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
