Yesterday, the telecommunications company AT&T presented its new innovation with the first 5G connected American football headset.
Equipped with a mini screen (lens), the helmet from equipment manufacturer Riddell will allow quarterbacks to visualize in augmented reality the game plan selected and sent by the coach.
To develop and design this connected headset, AT&T collaborated with Gallaudet University, which welcomes deaf and hard of hearing students. A helmet which will be used for the first time in competition this Saturday (NCAA Division III).
An augmented reality display technology that helps communication between players and their coaches. It remains to be seen whether this helmet will be the future of the sport as a whole, including in the National Football League (NFL).
To unveil this headset, AT&T produced a 3-minute presentation video
For AT&T, this presentation is obviously a good way to highlight its know-how and work on its image as an innovative company. A connected headset which has received extensive media coverage in the United States since the announcement this Thursday.

This is awesome — AT&T worked with Gallaudet University to create a 5G helmet so their deaf and hard-of-hearing students might play football.
Coaches will select plays from a tablet, which will then show up on the players visor.
They’ll use them for the first time this weekend. pic.twitter.com/Jg6vNYr616
