The two full-backs Jordan Lotomba and Ulisses Garcia are back in the squad for the two games once morest Israel and Belarus.

Murat Yakin is relying on a proven squad for the European Championship qualifiers in Israel (October 12) and once morest Belarus (October 15). The only new additions are full-backs Ulisses Garcia and Jordan Lotomba.

The lack of valid full-backs alongside the currently injured Silvan Widmer and Ricardo Rodriguez has been a problem for the Swiss national team for a long time. Now the national coach is reacting by bringing Garcia back from champions YB and Lotomba from Ligue 1 club Nice.

“If everyone is fit, I prefer to play with a back four. With these nominations we have double positions in all positions and that is pleasing,” said Yakin regarding his squad.

Bislimi is no longer there, Jashari is with the U21

Compared to the last international matches in September in Kosovo (2:2) and once morest Andorra (3:0), the midfielders Uran Bislimi (Lugano), Filip Ugrinic (YB) and Ardon Jashari (Luzern) are no longer there. The latter, like Fabian Rieder, will be in action with the U21. Otherwise, the squad, led by the in-form captain Granit Xhaka, is unchanged.

There is a lot of competition in the central midfield. In the case of Jashari or Rieder, that doesn’t mean that they won’t be called up in the next rounds. “Both are still eligible to play for the U21s. The important thing is that they are used,” said Yakin regarding the two absent youngsters. For the U21 it’s regarding important points, that has higher priority.
