If you received a fraudulent email
Don’t panic, Safe On web lists the things to do. First, don’t reply to the email, don’t open the attachments. Then mark the message as SPAM or junk and finally block the sender to no longer receive emails of this type.
Ideally, notify Safe On Web at the following address: [email protected].
If you opened the document
It’s a little more annoying, but there’s no point in panicking. If the attachment was opened, the site recommends running a scan of your computer to make sure no viruses are installed. Here is the procedure.
Please note, if a telephone number is mentioned in the document, do not call it.
If you responded to the message
The best thing to do if you have been extorted is to file a report with the police near you.
Also notify your bank and/or Card Stop on 078 170 170 if you have transmitted banking details. This may block the transaction in progress if you have already tried to transfer money.
