ABU DHABI, 5 October / WAM / The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, as part of its promotional initiative “Hayakum in Abu Dhabi”, launched the new Abu Dhabi events agenda, which includes more than 150 cultural and entertainment events ranging from musical and theatrical evenings, festivals, and international sports competitions. It extends over the next six months.
His Excellency Saud Al Hosani, Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the “Agenda” offers multiple types of events that meet the needs of different segments of society and enhance the tourism supply in the emirate, and represents part of the department’s strategic plan.
Abu Dhabi’s events agenda, which constitutes a fundamental and important focus in efforts to attract tourists, whether international or local, includes a wide range of sporting, cultural and entertainment activities, which reflect the diversity of the emirate’s vibrant society, which ensures that Abu Dhabi remains a global destination for those seeking diverse and rich experiences.
He added that recreational sports events play an important role in Abu Dhabi’s tourism strategy and contribute to the development of society, through the goals it seeks to achieve, including increasing economic returns, especially in the private sector, attracting international and local visitors to the emirate, and enhancing the visitor experience and raising it to the best levels, including He achieves his aspirations and exceeds his expectations.
The unveiling of the new agenda comes following the launch of “Hayakum in Abu Dhabi” last September, its global promotional campaign, “Everyone is ready for winter in Abu Dhabi,” with the participation of Indian star Ranveer Singh, Chinese-American actress Liu Yifei, and Gulf comedy icons Dawoud Hussein and Hassan Al-Balam.
The new “Abu Dhabi Events Calendar” brings together a variety of activities and experiences that meet the aspirations of all members of the community and visitors, including “Ya Salam” following-race Abu Dhabi Grand Prix parties with stars Ava Max, Tiesto and Foo Fighters, NBA Abu Dhabi 2023 matches, and fights. Mixed martial arts (UFC), cultural festivals, the most beautiful family entertainment shows and artistic concerts.
Culinary arts lovers have the opportunity to discover the most delicious flavors at the first and largest Michelin food festivals in the region, in addition to the expected return of “Taste of Abu Dhabi”, the “50 Best Restaurants in the Middle East and North Africa” awards, and the Abu Dhabi Culinary Season.
Cultural experiences and programmes, art exhibitions in museums and educational initiatives highlight the UAE’s rich heritage and ancient past through many performing and visual arts activities.
The new season also witnesses the return of the Al Ain and Al Dhafra Book Festivals to celebrate Emirati literature and culture and enhance awareness of the importance of reading, while providing the opportunity to communicate with the most prominent authors, publishers and artists from the Emirates and the world.
The agenda includes a number of new events, most notably the first edition of “Saadiyat Nights” and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix race for the “Supercross” motorcycle championship. Yas Island also hosts a group of winter activities in its landmarks and entertainment cities, including the Winter Festival at “Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.” And amazing winter events at “Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi”, in addition to a number of musical evenings and family entertainment events.
In addition to the many entertainment activities and offers, the agenda also highlights cultural initiatives that play an important role in enhancing cultural understanding and interaction between residents and visitors alike, and displays a mix of cultural experiences with a global and Emirati flavor.
The most prominent cultural experiences on the agenda include the Letters of Light exhibition, which is held at the Louvre Abu Dhabi and displays a collection of the oldest sacred texts in monotheistic religions in cooperation with the French National Library and the Fondation des Museums de France, in addition to Abu Dhabi classical music, and the traditional crafts and industries festival. The festival celebrates the UAE’s ancient heritage of traditional crafts and industries.
The Al Ain Book Festival also attracts Emirati and Arab publishers and creative content makers, while the Al Dhafra Book Festival highlights Emirati literature.
Al Hosn Festival represents a living expression of Abu Dhabi’s culture and an annual celebration of its rich heritage, while the Maritime Heritage Festival celebrates the UAE’s ancient maritime traditions through a diverse cultural program.
The summer campaign, organized by “Hayakum in Abu Dhabi,” reached more than 1.3 billion people worldwide, an annual increase of 48%, in addition to an 8% increase in audience participation over last year.
