Beyond smartphones and tablets, Samsung reveals its product: the T9 portable SSD. Incorporating the best features of previous T7 models, the T9 promises faster transfer speeds and rugged durability, all wrapped in an updated design.

Samsung, South Korean electronics giant, not only surprised with the announcements of the Galaxy S23 FE, Tab S9 FE or Buds FE, but also with the announcement of a new portable SSD: the Samsung T9 . Continuing the brand’s line of storage products, the T9 is presented as a significant improvement to its predecessors, the T7, T7 Touch and T7 Shield.
TurboWrite performance and technology
The T9 boasts impressive performance, with transfer speeds reaching 2,000 MB/s thanks to its interface USB 3.2 Gen 2×2. These speeds allow users to seamlessly record videos in 8K or 12K definitions, meeting the demands of professionals and creatives working with large files and high-definition, high-bitrate formats.

One of the striking features of the T9 is the use of technology TurboWrite. The latter creates a high-performance buffer that maintains high write speeds, with buffer ratings varying from 22 GB to 180 GB, depending on disk size (up to 4 TB). Samsung says the size of this buffer is up to three times larger than that offered by competitors, providing consistent and fast write performance.
Refined design and energy efficiency
The T9 inherits the rugged design of the T7 Shield, with the latter featuring a rubber exterior for protection once morest drops and moisture. However, the design of the T9 has been revisited to elegantly adapt to the various situations in which it will be used.

Energy efficiency is another strong point of the T9. It consumes only 0.67 W in standby and up to 7.3 W in peak use. This reduced power consumption does not affect performance in any way, and the SSD would use specific thermal materials for optimal heat management, thus keeping the components at low temperatures.
In terms of dimensions, the T9 remains a model of portability with its 88 x 60 x 14 mm and its weight of 122 g. It is equipped with a USB-C port, comes with USB-A and USB-C cables, and is preformatted in exFAT, ensuring compatibility plug-and-play with the majority of devices running Android, iOS, iPad, macOS and Windows.
