“Arza” brings Diamond Abu Abboud back to the international competition at the Cairo Festival

Written by Ali Al-Kashouti Wednesday, October 4, 2023 08:13 PM A state of happiness is experienced by the family of the Lebanese film “Arza” following announcing his selection to participate in the official competition forCairo Film Festival Internationally, the film brings back its heroine, Diamond Abu Abboud, to compete in this category following she had previously won the Best Actress award in the same competition several years ago.

It is the first participation in the Cairo International Film Festival by its talented and brilliant director, Mira Shuaib, in her first feature film following her short film “Lilac”, which participated in many international festivals.

It was produced by Ali Al-Arabi and Tariq Al-Nama, along with Faisal Sam Shuaib, Louay Khuraish, and Zeina Badran. The film was also written by Louay Khuraish and Faisal Sam Shuaib, and its soundtrack was composed by star Hani Adel.

It stars Diamond Abu Abboud, Betty Tuttle, and Bilal Al-Hamwi, along with guest stars Fadi Abi Samra, Junaid Zein Al-Din, Fouad Yammine, Elie Mitri, Tariq Tamim, Hagop Dergogasian, Joyce Nasrallah, Shaden Fakih, Ibrahim Ajami, and Muhammad Khansa.

The film’s events revolve around Arza, a single mother residing in Beirut. Life’s circumstances were difficult for her, so she was forced to work hard on her own to secure a living for her son, Kenan, and her sister, Laila. When their bike, their only source of livelihood, is stolen, Arza takes her son on a trip around the different neighborhoods of Beirut in search of it.
