In line with the UAE’s declaration of the year 2023 as the “Year of Sustainability” under the slogan “Today for Tomorrow,” the “Maktabah” affiliated with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi launched the 11th session of the “Little Writer in the Big Book” competition for the 2023-2024 season, which focuses on the concept of sustainability and experiences. Conditions were set for student contributions, including that they must be written by hand and in fluent Arabic appropriate to the age group of the students, as all transmitted stories will be excluded, and that they be concerned with highlighting the positive values, good morals, and social traditions that the Emirati community cherishes, and that they meet the technical conditions for writing the story from the beginning. It must also have a plot and an end. It must also revolve around the topic of sustainability, so that it includes the students’ experiences and practices during the year, supported by situations and examples. Participation will take place through the schools, with one supervisor entitled to participate. His mission is to evaluate the students’ stories and receive prizes from the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, or through their parents. matters.
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi will print the winning stories in a unified book that will be distributed to Abu Dhabi schools and libraries, in line with the department’s keenness to support, nurture and invest in young talents in the emirate.
The deadline for registering and submitting stories to the digital library is Thursday, November 30, 2023, and the winning students in the digital library will be announced on Monday, February 5, 2024.
