Belle et Rose Association: Louane and the Fight Against Breast Cancer in Nîmes

Created by Marlène Gallouédec in 2022, the “Belle et Rose” association has a godmother of choice: the singer Louane. Very committed to the fight for the prevention of breast cancer, the young woman was present in Nîmes as part of Pink October.

Objectif Gard: How does it feel to return to Gard today?

Louane: It’s more of a habit, we’re not going to lie. I really like this department so I am particularly happy to be passing through Nîmes this week, especially when it is for such important causes. Although obviously I come to Nîmes very often for more personal reasons.

The “Belle et Rose” association was created last year, what is your assessment of it so far?

Louane: The association has grown quite a bit in one year!

Marlène Gallouédec: We had around a hundred members, 700 people on social networks, 350 boxes were made for patients. We also do podcasts, corporate awareness raising, we did a photo exhibition and we organized another charity evening last night.

Louane: It was the first official evening, we managed to have some profit for the next actions we are going to do, which makes us super happy. Marlène was able to organize a raffle in which I was also able to participate a little. All tickets and places were sold!

Marlène Gallouédec: Our results above all are a lot of awareness and prevention beyond Nîmes. A lot of this comes through the help of Louane, thanks to her social networks, we are able to reach a young audience that we would not have reached in Nîmes with our actions, that is precious.

Are there any other actions planned for next year?

Louane: We are currently discussing it, in any case we always want to go further. We don’t have anything defined on paper at the moment but we want to see the association grow more and more.

Marlène Gallouédec: Unfortunately there are needs and we have plenty of ideas. We need patronage, partnerships, memberships… We also need to relay our information so that people get tested.

Louane: Even on our small scale we need visibility of contributions and partnerships.

Podcasts are very popular today, should this help you reach a young audience, in addition to your media reach?

Louane: The reason we use podcasts is to develop our visibility on social networks and reach as many people as possible. The cool thing is that we received messages and we need them. They’re not necessarily the easiest to hear, but they’re the most important to listen to.

Marlene Gallouédec: We bring in testimonies from people who have been on the journey, accompanying people and medical staff. Everyone has their experience to bring.

Louane: From the moment you tell something that’s so scary, it’s difficult to feel light.

What message would you like to convey to those who will read you?

Louane: Take a self-examination, go see gynecologists, doctors or midwives to get analyzed, don’t wait until you’re 50.
