Food increased 11.29% in CABA during September

According to a new survey of Free Consumers in supermarkets and neighborhood businesses, the basic food basket of the City of Buenos Aires increased 11,29% in September.

Meanwhile, the entity explained that this basic basket has accumulated an increase of 114,06%.

This report is carried out with the analysis of 21 products, which make up three specific items: Warehouse, Fruit and Vegetables and Meats.

Meats and warehouse products were the divisions that presented the greatest variation with the 12,65% y 13,88%respectively.

After inflation marked 12,4% In August, different consulting firms assure that the CPI will once once more be 2 digits and might be around 11%.

One by one, the increases segmented by items

Of the 9 products that make up the Warehouse items surveyed, rice increased the most with an increase of 55.77%, going from a value of $520 to $810 per kilo. So far this year, there has been an increase 200%.

Fresh bread (+25%) and noodles (+22.64%) followed.

  • Wheat Flour, 1 kilo: from $480 to $490 (+2.08%)
  • Color Eggs, Dozen: from $1,580 to $1,800 (+13.95%)
  • Fresh Bread, 1 kilo: from $800 to $1,000 (+25%)
  • Milk with Fortified Vitamins, per liter: from $610 to $630 (+3.28%)
  • Yerba Mate Taragui, 1 kg: from $1,750 to $1,950 (+11.43%)

Total Warehouse: the sum of the mentioned products went from $8,970 to $10,010, with an increase of 13.88% in September and 118.32% so far this year.

For its part, in Fruits and Vegetables, the increase in black potatoes stands out with 7.69% and the decrease of 3.33% in chard.

  • Carrots, 1 kilo: $390 to $380 (-2.56%)
  • Eggplants, 1 kilo: from $690 to $720 (+4.35%)
  • Tomate Perita, 1 kilo: $990 to $1,020 (3.03%)
  • Onion, 1 kilo: from $380 (0%)
  • Black Potato, 1 kilo: from $650 to $700 (+7.69%)
  • Chard, per package: from $300 to $290 (-3.33%)
  • Orange, 1 kilo: from $620 to $650 (4.84%)
  • Apple, 1 kilo: from $980 to $1,050 (+7.14%)

Total Fruits and Vegetables: the sum of the mentioned products went from $5.000 a $5.190with an increase of 3.80% in September and 103.53% so far this year

Regarding the four cuts of meat that are monitored by the entity (loin ball, roast, shoulder and common minced meat), the greatest increase was that of the loin ball with 13.85%, followed by minced meat with 13.64%.

  • Lomo Ball, 1 kilo: from $3,250 to $3,700 (+13.85%)
  • Roast, 1 kilo: from $2,870 to $3,200 (+11.50%)
  • Shoulder, 1 kilo: from $2,730 to $3,050 (+11.72%)
  • Common Minced Meat, 1 kilo: from $1,980 to $2,250 (+13.64%)

Total Meats: the sum of the mentioned products went from $10.830 a $12.200with an increase of 12.65% for last month and 115.36% so far this year.

In this way, and considering all the data recorded by Free Consumers, the expenditure of this “basic basket” of 21 food products amounted to $27.400in front of the $24.620 what it cost in August.
