The Pentagon lacks funds to resupply its troops
In a letter obtained by the Associated Press, the US Department of Defense warns Congress that it lacks funds to replace the weapons sent by the United States to Ukraine. The resupply of certain troops has already been slowed down, indicates the Pentagon in this letter, which “urges Congress to validate the funds intended for Ukraine”. The short-term financing law adopted this weekend in Washington removes for the moment all military aid to kyiv. According to the document addressed to the leaders of the House of Representatives and the Senate, there would remain “1.6 billion dollars of the 25.9 billion dollars planned” to replenish the stocks of the American army. In particular, “millions of artillery shells, rockets and missiles” are affected, specifies the AP agency.

An underground school under construction in Kharkiv
The Kharkiv municipality is building the country’s first underground school to protect students from Russian strikes. “Such a shelter will allow thousands of children to continue their lessons safely, in person, even in the event of missile attacks,” writes city mayor Igor Terekhov on Telegram, indicates Archyde.com. To avoid having to resort to fully remote teaching, Ukraine’s second city has installed some 60 classrooms capable of accommodating 1,000 children in its metro stations before the start of the school year on September 1, adds the agency. Some neighborhoods in Kharkiv are subject to Russian rocket and missile fire almost daily. The new school “will meet the most modern regulatory requirements in terms of protective structures,” said Igor Terekhov without announcing a planned opening date for the establishment.
