The day before yesterday, the 32nd Bahrain International Music Festival kicked off with a diverse program that combines Asian, Western and classical music and highlights the Bahraini “art of sound”. The first evening of the festival was performed by the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Maestro Mubarak Najm, which presented excerpts from the most famous Austrian classical compositions under the title “A Night in Vienna.”
The festival program includes a concert on the 11th of this month entitled “Chinese Qin Music” presented by the Department of Chinese National Instruments at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music, while a concert by the German jazz band Jin Jim will take place on the 17th of this month.
On the 19th of the same month, Indian flute player Sunil Avashat transports the festival audience to the worlds of Indian traditional music, folk melodies and raga music, with the participation of a number of artists, including Samir Shivgar, Tushar Dixit and Abhi Ingli.
The conclusion will come on the 20th of this month at the Bahrain National Theater with the “Sound Art Night”, performed by the Bahrain Music Band, led by Maestro Ziad Ziman, with the participation of the artist Ahmed Al-Jumairi.
“The art of sound” is one of the auditory arts that has been closely linked to the development of the musical movement in Bahrain. It is characterized by the strong voices of artists accompanied by the music of the oud and marwas instruments, in addition to the qanun and violin instruments, in addition to movement performances such as the zafen (dance) and the kaf (safqa).
