This Ligue 1 championship season 2023-2024 has so far been irrational. Here is proof…
Another way to understand to what extent this start of the 2023-2024 Ligue 1 season is totally or almost irrational. Take the ranking of clubs according to their spending this summer, on the transfer market and compare it to that of the athlete. The result ? That apart from AS Monaco which plays the leading role and to a lesser degree Stade Rennais, there is nothing really very logical following the first seven days.
Stade Brestois is a delight, the promoted HAC and the MHSC too
This illustrates in particular the exceptional performance of Stade Brestois. Who, with few resources (at the very least, less than the vast majority of his rivals), invested in the off-season transfer market, bravely defends his chance on the podium of the elite of French football. With a differential of +15, no other club can compare, although the success of promoted Le Havre (+8) and Montpellier Hérault SC (+6) should also be noted.
RC Lens, OM and even less OL are at the right ratio following 7 days
Conversely, RC Lens and OM, two teams scheduled for Europe or even the final podium, are today following the 7th day far from their initial objectives. There are obviously many days left to reverse the trends. This is what the Olympique Lyonnais players, stuck in last place, think above all, while they should rather play, compared to this last transfer window, rather aim at at least the soft underbelly of this Ligue 1.
