Cédric Doumbé and Jordan Zébo faced each other at the Zénith in Paris in front of nearly 6,000 people this Saturday, September 30.
It only took 5 seconds for Cédric Doumbé, one of the most popular French MMA fighters, to win his first fight in the American “PFL” league. In a Zenith in Paris heated to white heat by 6,000 spectators including PSG players, Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Randal Kolo Muani, Achraf Hakimi and Lucas Hernandez, Doumbé put on a show before, during and following the fight.
Interviewed on France Interthis Monday, October 2, the fighter returned to his fight, but also to the tidy sum he pocketed, almost 200 000 euros. “For a fight like the one on Saturday, I earn close to 200,000 euros. In kickboxing, we might divide it by two. And in MMA, I can go up to a million, I can become a millionaire (…) with the million-dollar tournament at the PFL, which I might never have done in kickboxing”, he explained.
A sum that is all the more substantial when we know that the match ended following nine seconds, which is almost 22,000 euros per second.
In a video posted on his You Tube channel, he also explains having made a choice between the UFC and the PFL. He ultimately turned to the second option for financial reasons. In fact, the UFC would have offered him 20,000 dollars for combat and 20,000 dollars in case of victorya pittance.
