The county town has just acquired a new service for the population: a day hospital for medical and rehabilitation care. This new tool demonstrates “the real dynamism in terms of health in the territory of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, the aid of the State to invest in this area, but also which encourages the arrival of personnel, by offering them a framework of exercise and pleasant working conditions“, underlines Bertrand Biju-Duval, director of the departmental delegation of the ARS (Regional Health Agency) Paca.
Started in February 2022, extension work (115 m2), compliance work (balneotherapy) and development of the former reception area (84 m2) were necessary to accommodate this new activity. Between June and November of the same year, construction work on the extension and rehabilitation of the balneotherapy area began. A covered walkway was created creating a link between the two buildings. Going from one rehabilitation doctor to six doctors (general practitioners and specialists), care has become medicalized and rehabilitation has become the spearhead of the establishment.
A thousand sessions since April
“Day hospitalization has become an obligation“, comments Franck Pouilly, director of the Manosque hospital center. This new building allows “to reorganize the site with the installation of high-tech technical platforms at a cost of 250,000 € of materials“But, above all, a hospital enabling patients.”following treatment courses of three or four hours, to return home once the treatment is completed“Since its opening to the public last April, 1,000 day hospital sessions have been carried out.”and demand is strong for care“, adds Franck Pouilly.
Two new doctors, Doctors Lambert and Siegel, have joined the existing medical team with Doctors Izzo and Tordjman. “The renovated establishment provides better working conditionsinsists Camille Galtier, president of the hospital supervisory board and mayor of Manosque. Without competition, but with complementarity, thanks to the establishment of the Territorial Hospital Group (GHT) of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, this tool is a strength for a sparsely populated territory like ours.”
For his part, David Gehant, mayor of Forcalquier and president of the Pays de Forcalquier-Montagne de Lure community of communes, adds that “this quality service will respond to the influx of aging populations in rural areas“The hospital is like this.”reinforced, a sign of sustainability over time, becoming an additional link in the chain of care that we wish to have in the region.“
