The International Monetary Fund announced last week that it had begun the second review of the aid plan totaling $15.6 billion granted in March.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) begins meetings in Ukraine on Sunday to
discuss the country’s economic situation with government officials and other stakeholders there, IMF country representative Vahram Stepanyan said on Sunday. “An IMF team, led by Uma Ramakrishnan, deputy director of the Fund’s European department, begins meetings today in Kiev with Ukrainian authorities and other stakeholders,” Vahram Stepanyan said in a statement.
“The high-level engagement will focus on policy objectives and challenges in the context of Ukraine’s program supported by the IMF’s Extended Credit Facility (EDCF) arrangement.”
A total envelope of 115 billion dollars
The MEDC provides financial assistance to countries facing significant financing challenges. Ukraine’s economy has been hit hard since Russia’s invasion of Russia began in February 2022, and the government has relied heavily on Western aid to fund social and humanitarian needs.
The IMF announced last week that it had begun the second review of the aid plan totaling $15.6 billion granted in March. The four-year program is part of an overall package of $115 billion intended to support the country’s economy.
