Records are made to be broken. This summer, Paweł Siciński, a Polish “gamer”, was entitled to honors from the Guinness World Records for having played more than 10,000 hours of the same game of “Football Manager 18”, a management game where you can play as a sports coach managing the strategy of his team, transfers, the budget, his own career from club to club… This translated into more than 25,000 matches, bringing him from the 2017-2018 season to 2545-2546, for a thick record of more than 1,000 trophies.
Created in 2004 by the English studio Sports Interactive, this franchise has also just reached a new milestone. Released at the end of 2022, the latest opus in the series, “Football Manager 23”, recently crossed the 6 million player mark. A first for this game, which can be explained in particular by its arrival on the PlayStation ecosystem last year, increasing tenfold the potential volume of players with access to it, but also by its growing popularity.
