Muscat: The Capiter Market Authority has issued an order making insurance coverage mandatory for companies operating in the adventure tourism sector in Oman. This is according to the 2021 decision of the Oman Ministry of Heritage and Tourism. Accordingly, all adventure tourists in Oman must have an adventure insurance policy.
The new scheme is being implemented in collaboration with Oman Re Insurance Company. The company will provide legal assistance to those covered by the insurance and financial compensation for any loss or injury caused by accidents during adventure tourism.
This insurance policy is available from travel tourism operators. Officials said that all companies operating in the adventure tourism sector must fully comply with safety norms. The safety guidelines also include instructions given by the Civil Defense Ambulance authorities to reduce the risk during mountain climbing.
