Like every year since 2014, the Eiffel Tower will be illuminated in pink, this time alongside the Arc de Triomphe and the National Assembly, to raise awareness of breast cancer screening.
This Sunday marks the start of Pink October, the month of information and awareness around breast cancer. Like every year since 2014, the Eiffel Tower will be illuminated in pink, alongside, this time, the Arc de Triomphe and the National Assembly, indicates the Ruban Rose associationwhich celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
The same day, 99 women and 1 man, under treatment for remission, or cured of breast cancer, will symbolically walk on the Champs-Élysées. Alongside them, on the most beautiful avenue in the world, 100 white coats (researchers, doctors, caregivers, etc.). Everyone will wear white and pink.
“The harmony of these two colors is not a coincidence. Pink represents all the people affected by the disease. White recalls the essential role of the medical and scientific profession and the importance of research in the fight once morest cancer of the breast”, explains the association.
Research support
Many personalities will be present alongside the walkers, such as the singer Jenifer, who will accompany the walk with music, choreographed by Mehdi Kerkouche.
Evelyne Dhéliat, Claudia Tagbo and Alice Detollenaere, godmothers of the association and figures of the 2022 campaign, will also be present. The event will finally be filmed by director Didier Froehly and relayed on social networks.
This year, support for research is at the center of the Pink October campaign. Because although it progresses, breast cancer continues to affect more than 61,000 people each year in France. It is the most common cancer among women, representing the leading cause of cancer death among them. But detected at an early stage, there is a 99% chance of survival at 5 years.
