Entrevista to Juli Savioli

In his mind, a voice tells him not to let up, to continue, to go for more. It is the same voice that she heard when she did classical dance, when as a child she was already seeking perfection. And that same word is the one that today, years later, she guides Juli Savioli in the creation of her TikToks, in his physical training and now, she even titles his musical debut: Perfection.

The influencer took her first step into the industry with the release of her EP, which has her stamp all over it. “Since I was little, classical dance had a big impact on me: perfection is always sought there. To look like a feather, but inside to be all rigid and showing muscles. For this to look like this – he smiles delicately and rehearses a figure – but inside you are: ‘Come on, come on, come on’. Every characteristic of mine is always giving 100%,” explains Juli, also a model, and who among all her social networks has more than nine million followers.

Work, perseverance, but above all discipline, this is how she defines that voice that drives her to go for more and explains, in large part, how a young woman from Mar del Plata left her hometown, moved alone to Buenos Aires and began a path which led her to be one of the most prominent influencers in the country. “Discipline is the parents that you have in your head, that is, they are the ones who tell you: ‘You have to do it the same way, you have to go, do, do!’”

Perfection is made up of five songs – “Exijo En Mí”, “4 Paredes”, “Percción”, “Busca” and “Un Poco Me Gustás” – with musical styles and rhythms that are very different from each other. The EP is an energetic, sensitive and sensual journey where pop, R&B, funky and experimental rhythms show the artist’s versatility and integrate the story of personal experiences that she decided to share.

Although previously, in that musical search, he delved into his tastes and analyzed which genres he felt might transmit those experiences: “I listen to a lot of rock: Charly García, Spinetta, Virus, Cerati, and I went with that. But I also love techno. I love writing, I am very nourished by lyrics, and I wanted them to have something for people to identify with. Never in my life did I think I was going to make music, I was developing it from other places: music was already waiting for me. I felt like I had to activate that part of me and say: ‘Look, I have another arm, I sing, let’s see what I can do…’. It all comes together, the acting, the dancing, the dubbing.”

Between contortions, darkness and a play of white and red lights, the 21-year-old exploits her artistic side even more in the first cut: “Exijo En Mí”. Taking advantage and playing with that skill that she developed in her years as a dancer, she sees herself as a good Juli, and as a bad and broken one. The latter appears to be possessed and walks on her hands and feet, winking at The Exorcist, such as in the scene in which Regan MacNeil comes down the stairs.

The song transmits all its essence and that love for discipline, where it relates the different processes that she went through in her life to push her limits and demand herself from that person – or inner voice – that made her feel insufficient. “I always like to stand out in the best way with the best I can give, and seek perfection. ‘Search’ also means a lot to me because looking for perfection makes you hit a wall. There are very good things and very bad things. Never, never, never settle. He always told me: ‘I might have given more, more, more, I want more, more, more.’ I get obsessed, I want everything and I always want to give everything.”

Daughter of a lawyer and a psychologist, Savioli always sought to explore her artistic side. Thus she was creating and developing different facets of her personality, which can be clearly reflected in her videos. On her networks (7.6 million followers on TikTok and 970 thousand on Instagram, 529 thousand subscribers on YouTube) her characters stand out each one. However, this new Juli appears as the most complete of her, in which all her tastes, anxieties and desires come together. “She trained me a lot in classical dance, everything that is acting, dubbing, drawing, writing, body expression. The singing Juli is going to be the most mainstream and massive representative of all the Juli that I host, which I value a lot, because I use all of them so that these things happen today. Each one is always active in her place and absorbs everything so that today they are accumulated in this person,” she highlights.

Throughout this path, the support of his family became essential, even more so from a distance, following he settled in Capital. And although it is not very common for her to travel to the coast, her family sporadically comes to visit her, such as at the launch of her EP.

Minutes before the presentation, she was already excited regarding the arrival of her loved ones. “I hope I don’t cry because I’m dying, I don’t want my makeup to run. It’s crazy because in my family we all admire each other. Each one has what we say: ‘We are with you’. The artistic side touched me. Dad is a lawyer, mom is a psychologist, my sister is also a lawyer,” she highlights.

Although part of her audience knew her and began to follow her following the viral video where she immortalized the phrase “Let it be repeated!”, Savioli seeks to detach herself from that image. The situation was even evident during the launch of Perfection: someone in the audience said the phrase out loud and immediately the singer’s gesture changed, showing her annoyance.

A few days later, the artist took advantage of her networks to comment on the topic and explain why that phrase bothers her: “’Why does it bother you so much? If thanks to this you rose to fame.’ I have been making videos since I can remember. Many have known my YouTube videos, there is one called ‘How to poop’, which has a million views. At the age of 11 I had 80,000 subscribers on YouTube, I was already making videos, I was already editing them, I was already acting in them. And the video that went very viral to me is one of them making faces. The first, relevant, relevant one, was the doll. The ‘Let it be repeated!’ “It expanded me, but before I was already making content.”

Juli and detailed where his reactions come from, which – he understands – arouse people’s curiosity. “I also want them to know me seriously. Many think that I am crazy, that I am insane. I love acting for the camera, that’s why I do acting, and I have all the recognition of my body to move as I want because I did 16 years of classical dance and I love training, I have a hell of a discipline and I also do boxing. I want my music to be your music, transform it however you want, I have a lot of love for this. And I don’t allow those comments to hurt me, they make me a little angry, helpless.”

In this way, Savioli begins a new path in his career, in which he will seek to bring together all his talent and give massiveness to his story. “This new Juli is more normal to look at. I know that she comes across as a little strange, which I love, but doing it from this more familiar side helps me give her a more valuable role. It is putting together everything that she formed me and adding this new beginning of music to it. It is like exploding everything that she had already been building,” she closes.
