The incident was published in the social network community Reddit dedicated to iPhones (r/iPhone), this week.
According to the user who reported the problem, he started using the device on Monday, following purchasing it from his operator (Verizon). So, following putting a case on the device, he noticed that the case was not fitting properly. He emphasized that he had not dropped the device until now.
Initially, he thought the problem might be with the case, but soon noticed that the issue was the battery, which was bulging, causing a separation between the screen part and the device’s chassis. Although the iPhone continues to work, using it with the battery in this way obviously poses security risks — and the user sought to have his device replaced.
Because he purchased from the operator, he said that Apple advised him to make the exchange where he had purchased and not at the company’s own store. Given the fact that the battery is clearly full, it is unlikely that he will face difficulties in changing his device.
Knowing regarding the overheating problems — which have been the target of several complaints from users —, some are associating the fact that the battery has swelled with issues related to the temperature of the iPhone 15 Pro.
However, it is still not possible to know exactly why the battery on the user’s iPhone in question had this problem, and it is something that would require more detailed investigations to be discovered. Even with the short time of use, several possible causes might have contributed to the component swelling.
It is also important to wait and see if, as in the case of overheating, more units of the new top-of-the-line iPhones will also present this bloated battery problem. Otherwise, it is unlikely that we are facing a more comprehensive problem, as occurred with the legendary Samsung Galaxy Note7em 2016.
