A post-flight press conference was held today at the TsPK. The cosmonauts answered questions from journalists and social media subscribers.

Today, a post-flight press conference was held at the Cosmonaut Training Center with the participation of Russian cosmonauts of the 68th and 69th long-duration expeditions to the ISS. The commander of the crew of the Soyuz MS-23 ship Sergei Prokopyevthe flight engineer Dmitry Peteline et Andrei Fedyayevthe latter returning from an expedition on the Crew Dragon ship, answered questions from journalists and subscribers of the Center’s social networks.

The duration of work in orbit of Sergei Prokopyev, Dmitry Petelin and Frank Rubio was 371 dayswhich became a new record for continuous stay on the ISS.

They took off for their spaceflight on September 21, 2022 aboard the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft. Due to an emergency situation, the duration of their expedition increased and the crew returned from orbit aboard the Soyuz MS-23 spacecraft.

In fact, it surprised us“said Sergei Prokopyev. “During preparation for the spacewalk, when we had already released the pressure from the airlock compartment, there was a breakdown in the thermal control system of the ship we arrived on. Even through the window, we observed drops of liquid dispersing in all directions and passing our portholes.”.

Then the cosmonauts urgently carried out a “reverse airlock” process and waited for Earth specialists to make a decision on further actions. In mid-February, the Soyuz MS-23 rescue craft was launched in unmanned mode, on which the crew landed two days ago.

Sergei Prokopyev stressed that during their expedition, the cosmonauts encountered 28 people on board the station.

Answering questions from media representatives, Dmitry Petelin spoke regarding the scientific experiments that were to be carried out during the year of work at the station:

« I remember the “Dispersion” experiment – the study of dispersive liquids in conditions of microgravity under the influence of space. From a scientific point of view, the most important thing is that the experiment was carried out by students. I really liked the equipment. Of course, we were also looking forward to the “Vampire” crystal fusion experiment. »

Andrey Fedyaev participated in the ISS-69 expedition aboard the Crew Dragon spacecraft as part of a cross-flight agreement.

The main idea of cross flights is to have a person in each segment at all times who can monitor it“, noted the cosmonaut.

After its launch on March 2, 2023, Andrei Fedyayev returned to Earth 186 days later. He spoke to media representatives regarding the relations between the crews aboard the station:

« The life of cosmonauts and astronauts on the station is the clearest example of how people should live on Earth. If we lived like this on Earth, there would be no conflicts or other problems.”.

Then the cosmonauts answered questions from TsPK social media subscribers regarding life and work at the station.

Sergei Prokopyev.

Dmitry Peteline.

Andrei Fedyayev. He appears more dashing than his colleagues: normal, he spent only half the time as his comrades on the ISS and his rehabilitation is much further advanced.
