According to the Spanish daily “El País”, which revealed the decision of the Barcelona court, the body of the business leader is still in a morgue in the city, where it is kept at a temperature of -18°C.

John McAfee, who became a cryptocurrency guru following making his fortune with his antivirus in the 1980s, was arrested in October 2020 at Barcelona airport, just before boarding a plane to Istanbul. This arrest came the day following the publication by an American prosecutor of an indictment accusing him of having failed to declare millions of dollars of income resulting in particular from the promotion of cryptocurrencies.
The founder of McAfee software had already hit the headlines in 2012 in Belize, a small country in Central America, when his neighbor was mysteriously murdered, a case which has still not been elucidated to this day. The police then discovered that he was living with a 17-year-old girl and that he had several weapons in his house. McAfee embarked on an incredible escapade that kept the media in suspense for a month.
