Two former officials of the government of Neuquén died this Thursday as a result of a tragic accident automobile that occurred on route 237, near the town of Picún Leufú, located south of the city of that province.
The accident caused the death of Ricardo Esteves and Viviana Pesekwho were traveling in a Toyota SW4 truck, which around 1:00 p.m. collided head-on with a Ford Cargo truck, whose driver only suffered minor injuries.
The accident occurred at kilometer 1341 of the provincial road, more precisely in the section that connects El Chocón with Picún Leufú.
The police attended the area of the fatal collision, along with a team of volunteer firefighters. The truck was driven by Esteves, 78, cousin of former governor Jorge Sapag, and who during his administration served as Undersecretary of Public Works.
Meanwhile, Pesek was part of the Corporation for the Integral Development of Neuquén Sociedad del Estado (Cordineu) in the last term of Jorge Sobisch and in the first term of Jorge Sapag.
The news generated a great commotion in the political sphere of the provincesince Esteves was a long-time official linked to local politics and in particular to the Neuquén Popular Movement (MPN).
Governor Omar Gutiérrez expressed on the social network X (formerly Twitter): “I deeply regret the tragic death of Ricardo `Carbón` Esteves and Viviana Pesek, who worked tirelessly for the well-being of the people of Neuquén. “I will always remember them with great affection.”
