Water filter brand Brita warned Thursday of a safety issue affecting its “sodaTRIO” and “sodaTRIO PRO” products, intended to carbonate water. The plastic connector at the top of the protective receptacle may not be able to withstand the pressure exerted by a glass bottle breaking during carbonation. Shards of glass may escape from the protective receptacle, posing a risk of injury.
Brita therefore advises consumers to no longer use glass bottles with the “sodaTRIO” and “sodaTRIO PRO” carbonating machines. Until the device is replaced, only the combination of the sparkling water machine and a stainless steel bottle, included in the kit, should be used.
The safety notice applies to the “white”, “black” and “stainless steel” versions.
The brand offers to send its customers a second one-liter stainless steel bottle free of charge, pending replacement of the system. It is also possible to return the product and receive a full refund.
