However, as happened in other emissions of the cycle in the world, in an attempt to alleviate this situation, production presented a challenge through which they might obtain more food.
Titled Palms or Pays, the challenge consists of presenting four contestants with various food options ranging from hamburgers to pizzas, each with a specified amount. Each of them chooses a dish but, to win the prize, they must eat a food hidden under a bell. If the contestant does not consume the hidden food, she loses the amount of money assigned to the selected dish. Otherwise, she takes the plate of food without losing money from the common fund.
Finally, Oriana, Laura, Jessica and Álex Caniggia were selected by the audience for the opportunity to win additional food. Oriana opted for a plate of hot dogs and, following the instructions of host Ion Aramendi, she lifted the bell to reveal that there were cow brains underneath. After that, Ion reminded her that he had one minute to finish that dish, at which point the participant, retching, accepted.
The disgust and the impression it generated on her might not be hidden from her face, and following spitting out the first piece, she tried once more, and covering her nose with her fingers and accompanied by a lot of water, she managed to finish the challenge imposed. ”For this effort Oriana, I thank you, your colleagues too and they are all going to eat American food and the final price does not go down, very good Oriana, thank you”, the presenter revealed.
The last participant in this challenge was Álex Caniggia, who chose pizza but first had to face boiled chinchulines. After seeing the dish and smelling it, his face changed and he seemed reluctant, but the cycle driver continued haranguing him: “These are cow intestines, they are cooked, so they are not going to do anything bad to you,” although he acknowledged that “ They smell strong.”
Due to the doubts that had been generated, they gave him a minute to reflect and think regarding whether he would consume it or not, at which point the media asked for the public’s harangue. “Do people say to eat? Look what this is,” he explained while he held a piece near his nose to confirm that the idea was not such a good one. However, following confirming that it was time for the clock to start ticking, he began to eat them with his hands, while his companions were horrified by the spectacle.
Once the challenge was completed, Alex returned home with the satisfaction of being able to share the pizzas with everyone, although the problems would come later: the hours passed and the participant might be seen a few hours later lying in an armchair, with his eyes covered, without wanting to communicate with anyone and without eating, which led him to fast due to the discomfort he felt.
