A small child was seriously injured by a kick from a Haflinger on Thursday at a riding stable in the Klagenfurt-Land district.
According to Carinthian police, a 22-year-old local woman was at a riding stable in the Klagenfurt-Land district with her two-year-old daughter on Thursday late followingnoon.
Mother and daughter were therefore on the grooming and mooring area of the farm – with several riders and their horses. During the cleaning activities, the toddler wanted to brush a Haflinger on a leash. The horse was frightened and kicked the two-year-old on the right side of his upper body. The toddler fell and hit his head on the ground.
The two-year-old was given first aid by an immediately alerted first responder and the team from the C 11 rescue helicopter and then flown to the Klagenfurt Clinic.
