Three wanted participants in the shootout in the village of Levashi in Dagestan were detained and taken to the police department, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Dagestan reported on September 27 in the department’s telegram channel.
According to law enforcement agencies, the conflict between two young residents of the village of Levashi began the day before, on September 26. For the investigation, they gathered more than 25 relatives from both sides and went to a vacant lot next to the local airfield.
When a verbal altercation escalated into a fight, the head of the logistics department of the Levashinsky police department arrived at the scene. Meanwhile, one of the participants in the fight pulled out a gun and started shooting at people. Another participant opened fire on the crowd with a machine gun.
As the TASS agency previously reported, citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Dagestan, “at least 20 people… maybe more” took part in the shootout.
According to the Dagestan police, shooting began in the village of Levashi at 17:30. According to preliminary data, as a result of the shootout, two people were killed and several were injured. Among the dead is a police officer, the head of the logistics department of the Levashinsky department.
