Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Centerthe accredited Brewster nonprofit that provides equine-assisted programming for at-risk and special needs populations, invites community members to “Denim and Diamonds,” their 3rd annual gala. The event, which will take place Saturday, September 30, includes a sunset cocktail hour, buffet dinner from Ledley Foods, live music by country singer Jessica Lynn, dancing and an auction. Proceeds from the evening help fund the many programs that Pegasus offers throughout the year.
Joseph Cusato, who serves on the Pegasus Board of Directors, said, “The Pegasus experience has been instrumental in the development of my children’s confidence and self-esteem. After connecting with the horse, they were no longer intimidated by their power and majesty; and developed a lifelong love and respect for these amazing animals.”
Pegasus’ Brewster facility opened in 2007, with help from over two million dollars in funding provided by a donor. The facility has since grown to include a riding arena, sensory trail and the Michele Arnhold Education Center, built to honor the memory of Michele Arnhold, a former Pegasus volunteer.
Pegasus maintains other facilities in Darien and Greenwich, Connecticut. The Brewster location, which encompasses 22 acres on Peach Lake Road along the border between Brewster and North Salem, is the organization’s permanent home.
