Cards, dice and strategy to play a hero from the fantasy genre, while also using video game codes. This is the objective of Nicolas Andrezcik, 33 years old, resident of Villemaréchal (Seine-et-Marne) who imagined and designed WarDice, a board game which immerses players in a medieval and fantastic universe.

Tested in a school

“The way of playing is different from other board games,” explains Nicolas Andrezcik. Several actions are possible each turn, you can equip your character and the style of play is different depending on the way you play. » A game that took three years of work from the creator, who was able to count on the support of his family and loved ones.

To carry out this ambitious project, Seine-et-Marnais also created its publishing house and toured communities of enthusiasts. WarDice was tested by gamers in specialist fairs, but also… in a school with younger students, in Avon.

How to play ?

WarDice is a strategic board game made up of dice and cards, in which you play a character from a wide choice of original heroes. Season 1 of the game, Aeloria, includes several game modes: an adventure mode (single player), a confrontation mode (from two to 8 players), the battle royale mode or the cooperation adventure mode (from two to four players). , five while playing monsters). Equip yourself, trap your opponents, change the dice, develop your strategy! Each character has a deck of cards with unique cards and a different style of play (gameplay) in order to vary the way you play. A second season is planned, this time with a rather futuristic universe.

Nicolas Andrezcik – also director of a leisure center in life and BAFA-BAFD coordinator (certificate of aptitude for the functions of facilitator and director) – wanted to “bring the children together, immerse them in a world other than that of the virtual” . He imagined his project during confinement in order to “encourage conviviality and exchanges away from screens. »

With feedback from the first players, the game has been improved, the scenarios refined, and the WarDice community is gradually starting to grow on social networks. Characters like elves, dwarves, goblins will speak to fans of Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, but not only that.

“Escape from the real world”

The game is meant to be fantastic, but accessible. “The rules are simple and I really wanted to make this game intergenerational,” insists Nicolas Andrezcik. Meet around the table for a moment of cohesion, solidarity, strategy. What I also like regarding the game is the possibility of escaping from the real world! »
