According to DXOMARK, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is excellent at capturing images in Portrait mode, featuring impressive skin tone and facial exposure accuracy in various lighting conditions. Furthermore, the depth map is now more accurate, allowing better segmentation of the blurred part, especially in fine details.
Still according to them, the intensity of the blur remains pleasant and with a beautiful and contrasting focus, especially visible in nighttime conditions. The device also maintains the contrast rendering characteristic of previous iPhone generations and prioritizes bright, well-exposed faces.

Therefore, users will only see JPEG images without HDR effect on most other smartphones or devices and applications that do not support this Apple photo format, degrading image quality and user experience.

Perhaps one of the main changes to the iPhone 15 Pro Max camera (which is restricted to it) is the new telephoto lens, which offers impressive zoom capabilities, reaching up to 5x (120mm equivalent) with ƒ/2.8 aperture and optical stabilization. .
However, DXOMARK points out that despite significant developments, the absence of a mid-range solution leads to inconsistent image quality across the entire focal range.
In this sense, especially between 35mm and 90mm, the level of detail drops as the zoom is obtained by cropping the image from the 48 megapixel sensor. Between 90mm and 120mm, the iPhone 15 Pro Max still doesn’t switch to the telephoto lens, but instead applies detail enhancement processing to try to render images a little sharper, which results in excessive sharpening, unnatural detail rendering, noise and artifacts, according to DXOMARK.
