Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s judicial custody has been extended by 14 days in the Cipher case. The fourteen-day remand period ended today. It has been extended till October 1. With this, Imran’s chances of being released from jail ended.
Imran Khan’s tenure has been extended in the case of misuse of secret information through diplomatic channel and disclosure of information (Cypher Case) while he was the Prime Minister of Pakistan. This is the third time Imran Khan has been remanded.
Imran Khan has been in jail since August 5 following being convicted in the Tosha Khana scam for illegally selling gifts he received during his tenure as prime minister. Special Court Judge Abual Hasnat Zulkarnain heard the case in the Sypher case at the Attock Jail where he is lodged.
The court has also extended the remand period of former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. The Islamabad High Court on Monday ordered the transfer of Imran Khan to Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail citing security reasons, but it was not implemented.

The authorities had earlier given permission to hear the case in the jail keeping security concerns in mind. In the Toshakhana case, the court awarded three years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs. The trial of the case is being conducted in Punjab’s Attock Jail with the special permission of the Law Ministry, citing security reasons.
