Marc Márquez’s Performance at the Indian GP and Expectations for the Twin Ring Motegi

The 30-year-old Marc Márquez took third place on the Repsol Honda at the Indian GP at the Buddh Circuit on Saturday and ninth place on Sunday, resulting in a total of 19 points, which secured him a place in the Drivers’ World Championship on March 19th . catapulted to 16th place.

The Repsol Honda factory driver is now expecting similar chances for the Twin Ring Motegi, which is now called Mobility Resort Motegi and is part of the Honda empire – following all, it is also a stop-and-go track with six first-gear tracks. Curves.

“It will be interesting to see what we can achieve there. Because we will have the standard casings for the Michelin rear tires there once more, whereas in India we had the hard casings like in Spielberg, which we actually had up until now. “It didn’t fit our bike,” summarized Marc. “These standard tires usually help my driving style, but the other drivers will also be faster with them.”

As always, Marc Márquez looks at the Indian GP with a lot of sense of reality, in which he was fighting for a podium place until the crash on lap 5, before he crashed in turn 1, fell back to 16th place and started a new race to catch up.

“In reality, if Bagnaia hadn’t crashed, I would have ended up in fifth place normally. Because Bezzecchi, Martin, Bagnaia and Marini were faster than us all weekend. Apart from this quartet, we were doing well, we had the speed and pace for fifth place. That’s why I took this extra risk on Sunday. I already admitted on Saturday that I took a lot of risks in the sprint because there was a chance of a podium finish. I still didn’t crash, but I don’t know why I stayed put… I got on the podium. On Sunday I wanted to take extra risks in the first ten laps. I knew that if I might stay on the heels of the Ducati riders for so long, I might attack in the last ten laps, as I normally ride well with used tires.”

Márquez continued: “So I took a lot of risks, but unfortunately I was carried a little too far out in Turn 1. The most powerful thing was that I was able to finish the race, as you remember: Before the Silverstone GP I said: ‘From now on I want to finish as many races as possible, do laps on the track and collect data.’ I achieved this goal on Sunday and my pace was very similar to that of Quartararo, who finished third.”
