Luc Martens Bitcoin Scam: Former Flemish Minister Faces Court for Alleged Unpaid Loans

Former Flemish minister Luc Martens (77) will appear in court next month, Krant van West-Flaanderen announced on Monday. He is accused by several entrepreneurs in the province of not having repaid the money lent to them. According to the local newspaper, there is talk of three million euros, which he lost in a bitcoin scam. The public prosecutor’s office has opened a preliminary investigation to see if there have been any criminal offenses.

In civil matters, around ten entrepreneurs from the Roeselare region are taking the former city councilor to court. They would have lent him a total of around three million euros, of which they never saw a cent once more. Five separate cases are open.
