iPhone 15 Pro Max rear glass disappoints in durability test

Continuing the testing saga involving the new iPhones, YouTuber Zack Nelson (do canal JerryRigEverything), known for his rigorous analyses, recently got his hands on iPhone 15 Pro Max to evaluate a series of aspects, mainly regarding the durability of several of the materials — from the front/rear glass to the sapphire in the lenses and, of course, the titanium present in the chassis.

As you can see in the video above, the initial tests were carried out without much surprise — with the iPhone 15 Pro Max passing all of them — until reaching the folding test, in which the rear glass completely broke during the first fold.

It is worth noting that Grade 5 titanium (used in the new top-of-the-line models) offers almost 3x more tensile strength when compared to aluminum, so the glass back is not able to withstand even small amounts of pressure and flexion.

O YouTuber also took advantage of the damage caused by the initial tests to destroy the device once and for all and dismantle it completely — checking not only some new construction elements, but also what is actually made of the titanium in the new devices.

As you can see in the final half of the video, the chassis of the iPhones 15 Pro/15 Pro Max has a notable division that shows the joining of titanium and aluminum, which was made using a “pioneering” thermomechanical process in the industry, according to Apple.

It is worth noting that we have already commented on a drop test carried out with the iPhone 15 Pro, the result of which also presented some surprises.
