With its titanium frame, the iPhone 15 Pro Max would have a design making it “more robust than ever”, according to Apple. The first tests suggest quite the opposite.
“More robust”, “best strength/weight ratio”, “aerospace quality”… There is no shortage of superlatives used by Apple on its website to describe its new iPhone 15 Pro equipped with a titanium frame. And yet, despite a titanium material supposed to be more resistant, the first results on the test bench are clear: the iPhone 15 Pro Max is extremely fragile.
Specializing in smartphone resistance tests, JerryRigEverything recently focused on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and wanted to know if Apple’s promises were indeed well founded. After demonstrating that the iPhone 15 Pro screen is, as announced by Apple, the most resistant on the market (certain level 6 scratches are almost invisible), the YouTuber focused on the resistance of the screen facing in the heat. Here too, it holds up particularly well.
On the other hand, and this is where the problem lies, it is in the folding test that the iPhone 15 Pro Max revealed its biggest weakness. The smartphone did not bend, but the rear window of the smartphone broke directly following light pressure from the YouTuber.
Worse still, the rear window of the iPhone 15 Pro was not damaged at all in this test. Fortunately, Apple has lowered repair costs for the rear window.
