The former president Evo Morales announced, this Sunday, that he will run for the presidency of Bolivia. He exercised that position for almost 14 years. He was the first indigenous ruler.
Morales, a former coca farmer, returned to the South American nation in 2020 dAfter a year in exile following resigning from his position amid a political crisisfollowing having won his fourth consecutive term in an election marred by accusations of fraud.
“We have decided to accept the requests of our militancy and of so many sisters and brothers who attend the rallies throughout the country to be a candidate for the presidency of our beloved #Bolivia,” he wrote in a message on the social network X.
«I’m going to give everything I can. We still have strengtha,” he added.
The next general elections in the country are scheduled for 2025.
