Innsbruck (OTS) – The black-red state government is approaching its first birthday. The new edition of the grand coalition in Tyrol has not yet made any really big leaps. But maybe it will happen.
Exactly one year ago today, the VP was happy with Anton Mattle. Above first place and a historic loss of almost ten percentage points. A year ago today, Georg Dornauer from the SP smiled into the cameras and sold the slide behind the FP to third place as a success. Four weeks following the 2022 state elections, the new old grand coalition was agreed. A year later, Governor Mattle and Vice Dornauer are more firmly in the saddle than ever. For now, however, it is a grand coalition of small steps.
ÖVP and SPÖ are largely standing still in Tyrol. This is not directly their own fault. Of course there were the tails of the pandemic. Of course, Toni and Schorsch were also messed up by the never-ending inflation. And then there were the multitude of construction sites that were given to the duo as a wedding gift in their first year of government together. Thank you, Günther. Mattle will have thought this many times. Much of this was left to him by his predecessor in the LH chair, but also in the state party – Platter. Some things were new. On top, so to speak. GemNova, Zillertalbahn, Matrei, Tratter. Dornauer had to help spoon out the soup. And she also oversalted herself here and there. With unnecessary side notes. Like bikini photos.
Mattle and Dornauer have set out to stabilize and renew the country. What is stable? A backpack worth billions in debt? This will only have to be reduced in the coming years with budgetary sweat and probably a few tears. A climate path that seems long out of reach? Because on the hydropower front, a lot of water will continue to flow down the Kaunertal and Ötztal before construction begins? And has the photovoltaic offensive so far been lost in a few parking lot roofs? Tyrol still doesn’t have a wind turbine. But Franz Hörl promised it!
Yes, Black and Red have made progress in their promise to expand child care. There is a leading motion. But Papier doesn’t look following children yet. So the acid test is pending. But let’s not paint the devil on the wall right now. Even if there is currently only a “right to mediation” left of the promised legal claim.
The opposition will hardly celebrate a birthday with the coalition duo. She’s not even invited to the party. Mattle and Dornauer have promised Tyrol a new government. The effort cannot be denied to both of them. VP/SP is entering its second year. Keep your fingers crossed that something more and faster will happen in this country in 2024.
