Thursday September 14, during its launch evening at the Palais des Sports, JDA Dijon revealed its “teaser” for the 2023/2024 season on a giant screen. A video that is both epic, manga, sporty, colorful, chivalrous and mysteriously historical, featuring Dijon handball players and basketball players. The content found its audience on the club’s social networks: as of September 23, 2023, 25,000 views on Instagram33,000 views on (ex-Twitter) and more than 6,000 views on the club’s Facebook pages.

Behind this production, a Dijon company, “Tease”, founded a little over five years ago by David Cacciato and Nicolas Vernet. tease [tiz]: marketing term meaning “to arouse curiosity” or “attract attention”, can we lire on their site. To find them, you have to go almost to the end of the runway at Dijon-Bourgogne Airport, to the heart of their studio set up in a hangar – a cave of cinephile (and series buff) Ali-Baba – with an impressive “cyclorama” , a white space without corners, all rounded, useful for filming and embedding images on the background followingwards.

A trailer between real scenes and artificial intelligence

This trailer concocted for JDA Dijon will remain as one of “Tease’s” biggest projects, with nearly four months of work between the initial idea and the reveal of the video. The opening scene, a medieval sword fight, featuring Joan of Arc, was shot expressly for the occasion, with stuntmen, a choreographed fight, costumes, patinated armor, a makeup artist. Behind the camera, David Cacciato, one of the two co-founders. “The sword passed not very far several times…”he laughs. “Everything was done from A to Z”. And in a “real” location, not on a green background, with a day of filming at the Thil Fortress (Côte-d’Or). “It was to have this idea that the club (founded in 1880, editor’s note) has crossed the ages”explains Nicolas Vernet, wanting to contrast with the “futuristic” side of the trailer from the previous year.

But this video, which mixes the themes of time and space, is also full of visual effects, created in post-production. Joan of Arc crosses the ages without moving, from an actress to an imaginary character, thanks to the contribution of artificial intelligence. In (very) big words: “IA, thank you for evolving the style of Joan of Arc, from the Middle Ages to our time”. In the rest of the video, handball players are transformed into statues, in a scene filmed at the Musée du Consortium. The back Manon Gravelle takes on the appearance of a manga warrior. The Palais des sports is being transformed, notably taking on a medieval look. The leader of the JDA Basket, David Holston, finds himself perched on the Porte Guillaume, Place Darcy (and yes, he didn’t really climb on it, it’s a trick…).

Like every season, the players have become actors and actresses. Without forgetting the retouched sports images, with effects on the balls, during matches at the Palais des sports. “It’s a film intended for the public, and sport, where we experience it best, is at the Palais. The effects help to energize”analyzes David Cacciato.

Specialized in sport, but not only…

As its name clearly indicates, “Tease” specializes in the production of short formats, “to introduce a brand, a service, an idea”. “We don’t just do teasers, but the two-minute format – or less than two minutes since it tends to become even shorter – is what is 90% requested by our interlocutors”, specifies Nicolas Vernet. Since the studio launched, more than 200 projects have been created, around forty per year on average.

Even if this does not represent all of their work, it is clear that “Tease” is making a name for itself with its videos in the field of sport. With the JDA, but also with football and the DFCO, the proof with this video of presentation of the new training center in Saint-Apollinaire. “It imposed itself on us a little, it wasn’t the project at the start, but we quickly understood that our type of image, our way of post-producing, of editing, was quite in line with the field of sport, explains Nicolas Vernet. The studio also works with brands for , such as the Orange Bleue gymthe food supplement Nutrimuscleor the group Red Bull.
