The break in an electrical power cable near Massy interrupted train traffic on the Atlantique high-speed line, causing significant delays to departures and arrivals from Montparnasse station in Paris, announced the SNCF midday Sunday.
A train stopped in the middle of the line required the dispatch of a rescue train. “As soon as the emergency train has left, the circulation of all trains will be able to gradually resume, which should be the case around 5:30 p.m.”announced the SNCF shortly following 2 p.m.
Around 2:40 p.m., train traffic was able to resume on a single track, but traffic remained severely disrupted, with the railway company predicting delays of thirty to sixty minutes at departure from the station, and thirty minutes and two hours upon arrival.
