In a galaxy far, far away, a Starfield player has made a startling discovery. In fact, Bethesda’s latest baby never lived up to its name ‘Skyrim in Space’ so well.

Since the statements of director Todd Howard – in 2021 – the expression “Skyrim in space” sticks to the hold of Starfield. At the time, it was just another way of presenting the project: an ambitious RPG, comparable to The Elder Scrolls in terms of lore and narration, but in a science fiction universe… Today, it’s is a formula that has a much more literal meaning. Recently (on Reddit), a player found a planet that looks exactly like the lands of Skyrim. And believe it or not, this stone lost in space hides… a river.

Skyrim in space, but in real life

On the famous forum, Internet user Bearpaw5000 reveals photos of Sumati, a world located in Starfield’s Narion system! A few “hundreds of meters” from a beach, he came across the Decidious Forest biom, which includes trees, rocks – and above all a sublime watercourse.

“My game accidentally generated a river” writes Bearpaw5000 here as the title. A sentence that says a lot. Obviously, players struggle to find this kind of natural phenomenon on Starfield. “I found oceans and lakes, but no rivers” says another Internet user, still on Reddit… “I’ve been looking for one for so long”. Of course, the setting immediately brings to mind the lush forests of Skyrim. And another person laughs: “Dude, you landed in Skyrim”.

In total, Starfield allows you to explore more than 1,000 planets… Some are obviously part of the main adventure, with cities and “major” points of interest, and others hide bioms and random encounters. For your part, as a seasoned explorer, it’s up to you to choose the course. However, unlike No Man’s Sky, Starfield does not allow you to travel the galaxy seamlessly and approach a world from any end! Here, you have to go through a radar or star map, choose your direction and teleport there. A choice which has earned the title some criticism.
